After

I received an email yesterday saying the cruise we had for today for whale watching has been cancelled for the weather conditions, so we make new plans for this day and will explore Chinatown.

We leave Central station and immediately are part of the streets full of Chinese signs and stores with curious goods in display.

We walk all through this neighborhood as we want to get the Chinese Garden of Friendship, a beautiful Chinese garden.

A few blocks before getting it we meet the Gate of Chinatown in an alley full of restaurants and, when we were leaving it, a music makes us stop and we see a sort of troupe with a couple of dragons coming out of the building. We follow them until our paths are different.

The entrance to the Chinese Garden is only 5$ and, once inside, we can forget we’re still in a city. Every corner has been thought as a special place and we explore it motivated by this beauty.

When we leave it’s already lunch time and, leaving behind the initial thought of going to Circular Quay, we walk as part of the live of Darling Harbour. There we end lunching pasta in a fancy Italian restaurant by 20$ each.

Then we take George Street until getting The Rocks, where being Sunday, there is a street market even bigger than the one we were on Friday. We go to Circular Quay and enjoy a street contortionist show with a lot of humor, with the Opera House at the bottom.

It’s time to come back to the hotel. We take dinner to take away in our favorite place and wait for our shuttle at 6:10 PM, which leaves us at terminal for domestic flights at 7 PM.

Our flight is very busy, but it reaches Cairns on time, where we get our hotel some minutes after midnight. We pay 24$ for the taxi.
