Day 8 (September 20, 2020)   Pisa

Before

This day we'll leave Florence as early as possible because we have a tight route for today. The idea is going directly to San Gimignano and, after completed our visit to the medieval town, we'll drive to Pisa, where we'll probably get our lunch. The last ride will be the one to reach Parma, where we will spend the night.
Itinerariy for this day

After

Breakfast, check out and having our car back are fast and we are in the Piazzale of Michelangelo around 11 AM. We find here another replica of David and a sort of big balcony with views to the Arno river and the city's Old Town. We spend sometime here enjoying the best views of Florence.

We come back to the car and fill the deposit of petrol before leaving the city since we've seen rates are quite more expensive on road. We don't stop until be at the entrance of San Gimignano, which we reach by few minutes past 12 PM.

It is crowded, and we must wait for someone leaving the parking before being able to enter. Then, we walk to the entrance to the walled town for a stroll. We could feel like being on an ancient period if it wasn't by the number of tourists here.

The town is full of restaurants and shops of cheeses and meats of the area and, obviously, gifts. It seems an ideal place for lunching, but it is too early for us.

We come back to the car after completing our visit to take our way to Pisa. We leave the place looking for general views of the town, which is at the top of a hill.

At 2 PM we're still in our way to Pisa and we pay attention to places where we can stop for lunch and we end up by stopping in the restaurant of a gas station around 2:45 PM. Two dishes of steaks at lemon and one of risotto and drinks by 25€.

We arrive at Pisa a few minutes before 4 PM. We've come with the idea of going directly to the parking Torre di Pisa, and we leave the car there.
Getting in through Porta Nuova
It's raining now and there are vendors on the way that are offering umbrellas, but we've brought ours.
Campo dei Miracoli in PisaPisa's Cathedral
We do our walk around Piazza dei Miracoli enjoying the buildings of white marble inside the walled area, with the Leaning Tower at the end. It seems people is no longer allowed to walk on the grass for the typical pictures.

Once this visit is finished we only have to arrive at our hotel in Parma, which we should get around 7 PM but, once we leave the motorway to Genoa, and we take the A15 to Parma, an accident makes us to be practically stopped for one hour and a half.

We arrive at Parma at night, past 8 PM. After checking in at hotel we leave looking for a quick dinner that we get with two slices of pizza and drinks by 6.50€.
