Before

Map of Como

This day we'll leave Lake Maggiore to go to the town Como, which gives name to the third largest lake in Italy, after Garda and Maggiore

The plan is to focus on exploring Como's Old Town, but we could also take a ferry to some other place or simply sailing by the lake.

 The spots marked at map:

0- B&B La Terrazza di Como
 1- Piazza del Duomo
 2- Ferry terminal
 3- Voltiano temple
4- Walls and gates of the medieval city

After

When we wake up the wonderful views are still there. We go to get our breakfast and check out in order to leave around 11 AM.

The drive to Como is of a bit more than one hour and, for the first time on this trip, the toll cannot be paid on road. Instead, we could see signs continously reminding we have 15 days to pay online at pedemontana.com.

We arrive too early to get our room so, since we've managed to park in the blue area of the street of the hotel, I pay 18€ to get a ticket until tomorrow at 10:15 AM. Then we go for a walk to explore the Old Town.

We reach the Duomo Square in no time, where the beautiful facade of the cathedral is attached with another beautiful building named Broletto, forming a fantastic picture.

We pay one euro each for visiting the inside of the cathedral.

Then we follow our stroll to the South, passing by the Basilica of San Fedele and reaching the medieval wall, where its three towers stand out.

We are back in the hotel by 2 PM and we get our room and the keys to the different doors we have to open. Once room is ready, we go out to get our lunch in a restaurant nearby with a blackboard announcing a 2 courses menu by 12€. We both order the same: pasta with clams and chicken milanesa. We pay 28€ in total. We were expecting some extra fees since the restaurant looks fancy.

Once back in the street we go to the ferry terminal by the lake side to get some information about timetables and destinations, and come back to our room for a couple of hours of resting before taking a boat to Tavernola. We pay 2.60€ each for the round trip ticket.
