Day
2
(September 14, 2020) Lake Garda
Before
We'll leave Brescia sometime
at morning, even though we could still do some visits there before.
In less than one hour we should arrive at Lake Garda, where
we
would start our visits at Sirmione and, from there, we'll drive to the
North following the East side of the lake until Malcesine, where we'll be
allocated.
We expect having the option to go to the top of Mount Baldo
by cable car to enjoy bird views of the landscape.
The spots marked at map are:
0- Malcesine
1- Sirmione
2- Mount Baldo

After
Just after breakfast and checking out we go out
for a
quick stroll to Duomo Square, which official
name is "Paolo VI", and we start by walking through the tunnel
under the castle hill as a shortcut.
Yesterday, we could only see these monuments by night and this time we
want
to have a view of them at daylight. We get into Old and New Cathedrals.
It's nearly noon when we leave Brescia and drive
directly
to Sirmione in around one-hour ride. We find here the usual tourist
live for the first time this year since it is so busy that all
parking places are full. After driving around three times we must
assume there is no way to park here and drive back looking for the
first available place. We find it more than two kilometres away, in a
blue area. I cannot even imagine how this place is in summer of any
other
year. We know won't be able to visit Sirmione, but the first views of
Garda Lake, just around we've parked, are fantastic.
We leave that area to take our way to Malcesine. Driving following the
road at East side of the lake is slow due to the speed limit for the
several towns that it goes through. We can see a lot of places offering
balsamic oil.
Once we get our room, we are ready for lunch, since
it's
past 3 PM. We're pointed by the hotel's staff that we have a
30% discount at the restaurant and take the offer without second
thoughts.
We order spaghetti with clams for me, lamb ribs for Eva and a bowl of
mussels to share. That results to be a big amount of food and
everything was delicious. We pay 45€ in total.
We're told by the staff that it is already too late for the cable car to
Mount Baldo since, even though we could take it now, won't probably be
available to come back and we should come back down by walking. They
close at 6 PM. So, hotel staff helps us by purchasing tickets online
for tomorrow morning in order to avoid the lines. After this, we go for
a walk to explore the town.
It's a cute town that is maintained clean and
painted. It
is full of corners to take a picture, but the places that access to the
lake are the highlight since the views are so amazing.
We walk to the castle to get a closer view of it from the outside and
get or selves lost on the streets of this town and its shops.
We take an ice cream and leave the shopping in our
room.
We only will leave the hotel one more time for a short stroll at night.
