Day
10
(September 22, 2020) Lake Maggiore
Before
If we have no pending visits to do in Cervinia,
we'll
leave directly to Stresa, the town we've chosen as base to explore Lake
Maggiore.
The highlights of this lake are some small islands
and
Stresa is the nearest town to them. Depending on what we will want to
do once there, we could visit some of these islands, explore Stresa or
even take the cable car there to get bird view of the lake from the
top of a mount.
The spots marked at map are:
0- Hotel Astoria
1- Isola Bella
2- Terminal de ferris
3- Stresa Town Center
4- Stresa's cablecar

After
We want to take all the advantage we can from our
last attempt to get a view of Mount Cervino by leaving early in ythe
morning, before breakfast, around 7 AM. These are indeed the best views
since it's just the peak what is covered by a veil of clouds. This last
night has snowed up there since there are quite more white than
yesterday.
We get our breakfast and check out around 10 AM,
which is the limit time for it here. We put our luggage in the car and
drive directly to Lake Maggiore.
We reach our hotel in Stresa around 12 PM, after a drive of nearly two
hours. At the hotel is all good news: it's not only that we get the
room even being this early, but they also upgrade it to one with
views to the lake, which are way more expensive, with no additional
cost. There is a small balcony in the room with the best views to the
lake and the islands on it.
We leave for lunch and we choose the restaurant
just in front, by the lake shore. An octopuss salad, chicken breast
with chips and chicken wings by 36€ in total.
After a rest in our room we go to explore the town. The center is small
and full of gift shops and restaurants.
Since we have plenty of time we go to the ferry
terminal and end up getting round trip tickets for the next ferry to
Isola
Bella by 13€.
The boat leaves at 5 PM and leaves us at the
island a few minutes later.
We explore the small town in the island and didn't
go to the garden, that needs a ticket and it's too late for visiting
them. We're charmed with the town and the views from the island.
Our visit takes as long as the next ferry comes,
at 5:40 PM. The views of the garden when leaving the island behind are
amazing.
Before going back to our room we get half peach
pie in a bakery of the center. We have the plan of ordering drinks at
hotel and eating it in the balcony of our room enjoying the views at
sunset.
