After
We don't have an alarm to wake up so we go for breakfast
when we are ready and, after that, we leave the hotel towards Piano de
Sorrento, just after 10 AM, to go down to the beach area. We were told
yesterday in the hotel that he elevator to the beach is out of service.
Without elevator, the only way to go down there is by using
the road going down by the vertical wall as a snake from the town to
the port and are shared by pedestrians and vehicles.
The beaches here are private and in the last turn there is
an arch that is the gate to the two main beaches: Bagni Tinaand Bagni
Rosita, which correspons to the blue&white and
yellow&green umbrellas respectively that we've been seeing in
our way down.
We choose Bagni Rosita and pay around 20€ for two loungers
and an umbrella. We spend nearly three hours enjoying this peculiarly
beautiful place. The sea is not deep unless you get some distance,
where you can get views of the Vesuvius. You can also explore the caves.
When we leave we use the last part of the road to go to the
center of this area od beaches and port. We choose restaurant Fracatell
for our lunch: two platters of seafood, with starters and drinks by 55€
in total.
We take a van called “Ascensore del mare” by 0.50€ each to
go up to the town and come back to the hotel.
We leave around 5:45 PM to go to “Agnello” station to take a
train to Sorrento. We pay 1.30€ for each ticket. It's just one station
and there is a good frecuency of trains with two or more by hour.
We reach Sorrento just before 6:30 PM and walk through Corso Italia until Piazza Tasso.
Here we take the narrow Via San Cesareo, which is crowded and
full of gift stores with local products, mostly related to lemons. The
highlight here is the Limoncello.
When we arrive at Dominova Seat, that is currently occupied by a
restaurant, we look at the wall paintings and walk up to Corso Italia,
having the Cathedral of Saints Philip and James in front, to take our
way back.
It's nearly 8 PM when we take the train back to Sant'Agnello. We
take our dinner in the hotel from what we got yesterday in the
supermarket and won't leave the room anymore.
