Day
1
(August 24, 2021) Naples
Before
Arrival at Naples is scheduled by 10:50h and, besides
getting our room in the hotel, we have a short agenda for this day
since we want to have time to rest enough after leaving home so early.
The time that we would want to spend on exploring the city,
it would be for some of the areas in our list. Probably, we'll walk to
the Eastern part of the hotel, with the Cathedral and the Porta
Capuana, since the rest of the days we want to focus on the Western
side.
The spots marked at map are:
0- La Fontanina Suites Hotel
1- International Airport
2- Catacombs
3- Old Town
4- Spanish Quarter
5- Port area
6- Castel dell'Ovo

After
We land at Naples airport about 20 minutes before the
scheduled time and immigration checks are also very fast, so we are
outside in no time following the sign for taxis. We get into the first
taxi in the stop and it takes us to the hotel all through the city,
seeing the Porta Capuana and Piazza Garibaldi in our way. We pay 30€
for it, which is the fixed rate.
As expected, it's still so early to get our room but they are
currently working on it and it will be ready for us in a few miutes.
So, since we're coming with lack of sleep, we rest inthe room until
lunch time.
It's around 14h when we leave the hotel for our first walk in
Naples. Our first stop is at “L'antica Pizzeria da Michele”, which is
so popular that there is a line outside too long as per joining it. We
read in the blackboard in the entrance that orders to take away there
is no need to wait and we'll keep that inmind for the dinner for today
or tomorrow.
We keep walking until Piazza Garibladi, where we find a place
to eat our pizzas: Ristorante Pizzeria La Brace. The deep fried pizza
immediately catches my eye. Eva orders one that, basically, is a
margherita with anchovies. They're delicious. The total we pay is 19.5€.
We leave Piazza Garibaldi behind to go to Porta Capuana,
which we already could see fdrom the taxi. Then, we follow our walk
along Castel Capuano to Via Duomo.
As the name points, in Via Duomo is where the cathedral is.
We visit it.
The next visit is to Monumental Complex Donnareginna, but we
find
it closed. The timetable in the entrance says that the only day of the
week that it is not opened are Tuesdays, what a coincidence!
We keep walking until Piazza Cavour, where we stop to take
coffee
and ice cream. In the way we've got some goodies in a Carrefour Express.
Our plan is taking the metro to come back to the hotel, but
Cavour station doesn't belong to the same line than hotel's one,
something that I already knew, but I though we could take the metro and
transfer to the red line in the next station: Museo. But that's not
possible: our only option is keep walking until Museo station.
There, we pay 1.10€ for each single ticket and 4.50€ for each
day
ticket, which we'll use the day after tomorrow, and we cover the four
stations until Universitá to come back to the hotel, have a light
supper with what we've brought and restin for toady.
