After
I'm going to the airport this morning to receive
someone at the airport and, this way, I'll see how the Alibus works.
So, I walk to the port with the plan of taking the Alibus at 8h. I find
thebus in front of Castel Nuovo and I pay 5€ to the driver for the
ticket.
20 miutes later it stops at Piazza Garibaldi and, just ten minutes
after that, we are in the airport.I come back to the hotel by taxi and
the rate is 35€ this time. When I ask about the 5€ difference for the
same route than yesterday the driver answers that he has tqken the
motorway, while yesterday I was probably taken through the city, which
is true.
We go to the bar at the corner for our breakfast because the
hotel has breakfast suspended because the size of the dinning room is
not compatible with covid measures. We taste our first sfogliatella
there. We pay 10€ in total.
We don't have a demanding plan for today: just exploring the
seaside area, so the first walk is the same that I did earlier to
Alibus stop until Castel Nuovo. But before we stop by port boxes to
take the ferry tickets to Capri for the day after tomorrow that we have
already purchased online.
We walk up to the Castel Nuovo's main entrance missing a
shadow in our way since the sun is hitting hard. Inside, free access is
limited to a small area just after the entrance.
We can see the street that leads to Piazza del Plebiscito
from here. Entrance to Galleria Umberto I is in this street, so we get
in the building and recall the architecture that we saw last year in
Milan.
We come back to the street to complete our way to Piazza del
Plebiscito, a large space between the Royal Palace and Church of San
Francesco da Paola.
We get into the Royal Palace and look for the ticket box but,
since I cannot find it, I end up asking to the first person I find that
seems to work there, He tells me that the Royal Palace is closed on
Wednesdays for visits. I laugh because I'm recalling this feeling from
yesterday at Donnaregina complex because it is closed on Tuesdays.
We ejoy this magnificent square from which we even have great
views of Castelo di Sant'Elmo on the hill, before deciding to leave it
to look for a place for our lunch
I had already chosen a seafood restaurant for today, so we go
to “La Cantinella” restaurant, with great views of the bay and
Vesuvius. We order a seafood risotto for me and sea bream for Eva with
clams and calamari as appetizers. We pay around 50€ per person.
Once back in the street we have the views just in frot of us
and
enjoy them all our way to Castel dell'Ovo, which we see from outside.
We stop a taxi while we were walking to the taxi stop by the
end
of the avenue and we use it to come back to the hotel. We pay 9€ for
the ride.
We relax in our room for a couple of hours. After that, I go
to
the popular “L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele” to bring to the hotel one
pizza of each of the two available types: margherita and marinara.
Marinara is like a margherita without cheese.
We enjoy this dinner tasting the two delicious pizzas in the
small dinning room of the hotel and we rest for today.
