Day
6 (October 25, 2019) Canal Beagle
Before
We’ve got an early flight for this day, at 9:35
AM, to the next stage of this travel: Ushuaia. A place labeled “The End
of the World”.
Since arrival is planned by 11 AM,
we had the afternoon left for some visit. We would like to go to “The
Train of the End of the World” to get rid of the external visit and
leave only places in the city for tomorrow.

After
Taxi is picking us up at 7:30 AM as scheduled. We
pay 800$
for the ride and join the only line for checking in in this small
airport, since there are no other flights currently. After paying 1700$
for the bags we wait for our flight in front of the boarding gate. Our
flight reaches Ushuaia around 11 AM and when waiting for our taxi we
can check we’re not going to have the expected cold here either. We pay
300$ for the ride to the hotel.
We change to fresher clothes and, after listening
to all
the advices we’re given at hotel, we walk directly to the touristic
port to purchase the tickets for the cruise by Canal Beagle. The small
boats are already full, so we end by paying 2400$ per person to
Tolkeyen for our seats in their bigger boat. The 40$ for the port tax
is already included.
With this, we have two hours for our lunch, and we
had
already chosen the popular restaurant “El Viejo marino” to taste crab
in front to this port.
We must wait for 15 minutes before having a table
and we
use them to decide what we want. Our order is a full crab for two,
which we can see how is taken alive from the pool. It is served in a
piece with two scissors as cutlery. We pay 2000$ for that, a salad and
drinks.
We leave the place satisfied and walk the short
way to the
entrance of the port, where we’re checked for the tax recipes. Once in
the port, we detect the boat belonging to Tolkeyen and board to it.
Around 3:30 PM we start sailing.
As we’re leaving Ushuaia behind the views of the
city are getting better, with the Andes in the background.
Soon, we stop by Isla de los Pajaros (Birds
Island), where
the concentration of cormorants is outstanding. The island is full of
them.
It takes a bit longer to get to Isla de los Lobos
(Wolves Island), where we can see just a few of sea lions.
After a while we reach Les Eclaireurs Islands,
where we
can see the lighthouse with the same name, but before we stop by an
island full of sea lions, which we could detect this time by the smell.
Then the boat sails all around the island in order
to get
360ş views of the lighthouse. After this, the boat sails back to the
port, where we arrive by 6 PM. We go to a chocolate shop for the free
chocolate that we’ve been given with our cruise tickets.
We walk by Ushuaia city center and stop at a
travel agency
to get our tour to Tierra del Fuego National Park for tomorrow,
following the advice we got at the hotel. We buy some water in our way
to the hotel because here, when it is a thaw season, the water by the
tap is dirty due to sediments and it is recommended don’t drinking it.
