Day

(October 6, 2022) Hout Bay
Before
We will spend most of this day in Hout Bay because we have
booked the activity of snorkeling with seals and the boat leaves from
there at 11:30AM.
We will come back at lunchtime and the idea is to eat at one
of the many seafood restaurants in the Bay.
Then we will leave to do some of the pending visits.
The spots marked at map are:
0- Urban Oasis
1- Sea Point Promenade
2- Dolphin's Beach
3- Hout Bay
4- Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

After
When we wake up I check the mail and I have an email from
yesterday saying that the snorkeling with seals has been canceled due
to the state of the sea. Now we are no longer in a hurry to leave.
Today seems to be the day with the worst weather.
We are going to have breakfast and we take the car around 11AM.
We are going to go to Hout Bay anyway as it is a place to see by
itself, but first we want to stop by Camps Bay to take some photos of
those beaches protected by mountains that we saw from the bus. Although
today they are covered by clouds.
Then we continue to Hout Bay, where it starts to rain as soon as
we arrive. We stop at the port to see the shops and the beautiful
landscape full of boats.
I guess it's pretty empty due to the weather. Shortly after,
some sea lions visit us, some of the many in the bay. We can interact
with them.
The seafood restaurants are here, but since it's not even 1PM,
we still head out to our next visit: The Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden,
located in the Table Mountain.
We pay 240R each to enter and we pass by the restaurant, which
is close to the entrance. It doesn't close until 5:30PM, so we go out
to explore the garden and eat later.
The garden is full of beautiful corners and different species of
birds appearing here and there. We pass through the platform suspended
between the trees.
We return to the restaurant to have our lunch and order lamb
shank with couscous for Eva and seared calamari with rice for me. I
love my dish, with a harissa sauce with a slight taste of lemon. We pay
400R in total.
We slowly leave the gardens with a full stomach.
As we have plenty of time, I drive to the beaches north of the
city and stop at Dolphin's Beach. All the beaches in this area are
white sand and have magnificent views of Table Mountain and Cape Town,
but the mountain hasn't managed to shake off the clouds along all day,
so we're not getting the views we wanted.
It's time to come back to the apartment, where we arrive at 5PM.
We decided to take our last chance to try a Gastby and go to our
regular place to see if they make it for us. In the end we order two
half gastby's, because Eva wants it without eggs or sauce, just the
meat, the fries and the salad.
We order it to take away, so it's in the apartment where we eat
it, at least in part. The other part will be our breakfast tomorrow.
