This is the only day we will spend entirely in Bimini. We will probably use it to explore the northern part of the island, going to the Hilton Resort and looking for the chance to rent a kayak to snorkel in Bimini Road to see it.
The spots marked at the map:
0- House of Love
1- Radio Beach
2- Bimini Port
3- Hilton Resort
4- Bimini Road
5- Airport
After
Since the day ends here shortly after 6 PM, which is when it gets dark, we went to bed early yesterday and that means we are up at 6 AM. We kill time and have breakfast and end up leaving at 9 AM.
The idea is to walk to the place where they rent the golf carts that everyone uses to get around here and rent one for today.
We find it past the Marina and pay 90$ for one day, which
seems like an outrage if we take into account that when we were looking for a taxi upon arrival they offered us one for $100 for the three days we are going to be here.
Once we have the vehicle, we use it to go to Radio Beach and enjoy the beautiful beach, the landscape and the underwater life for a few hours.
A little after 12 PM we return to the cart to see the southern end of the island, where there are the remains of a shipwreck, whose reddish color contrasts with the multiple shades of blue of the water in which it resides, and a small parked seaplane.
From there we follow the road north until we find the barbecue place, near our temporary home, which we found closed yesterday. We order two grilled lobsters, which come with three sides: vegetable pasta, broccoli with carrot, and corn with parmesan. The lobster is extraordinarily tasty and among the sides I am surprised that the broccoli with carrot is so good that I even like it more than the pasta. We eat with two smoothies, one mango for me and one watermelon for Eva. We pay $70 for everything. We return to the house and rest..
We leave around 4 PM to drive to the northern part of the island. We want to assess the options to see the Bimini Road and, when we arrive and ask about it, they explain that it is too far from the beach and that we would need to hire a boat to go there, so we just gave up.
There is a debate about whether this kind of underwater highway is natural or artificial and I have already formed the opinion that it must be natural because the beaches we have already been to already have this type of flat formation and we have already seen it in a line on some of them, so it seems that it is a common type of formation here.
We return passing by the Hilton and the border crossing to the pier where we will have to return tomorrow.
Then we stop at some shops and watch the sunset on the beach, which is different from yesterday because it is cloudy today.
