This day we will get up early to board our ferry to Bimini which
leaves at 9 AM. That should get us to the Bahamas around
7:30 PM.
We will check in at our apartment and spend the rest of the
day enjoying the island.

After
Jet lag is still helping us to get up early and, although we had
set the alarm for 6 AM, at 5:30 AM we are already having breakfast with what we brought yesterday. We pack our suitcases and leave one with a bag with the purchases we made in the parks.
Our Uber arrives quickly and drops us off
at the Balearia Caribbean terminal at 7 AM. There we check in our large suitcase and go up to pass through security to the enormous waiting room.
Shortly before 9 AM, which is the scheduled time for departure, the path to the boat opens, where we choose seats and when it sets sail, we go out to see how the coastal landscape opens up as we move away.
The journey time is set at 3 hours, but
we arrive in 2. The explanation is that you have to wait at the port for
permission and then you have to go through immigration, which takes
quite a while. Curiously, those who return the same day do not have
to go through immigration. It is only for those of us who stay overnight.
With the Bahamas stamp in our passports, we collect our
luggage from among all those waiting outside and an electric carousel takes us away from the pier.
First it stops at
the Hilton hotel and then at the taxi stop, where we catch one to
our accommodation for $5 per person.
The house is spectacular, with two bedrooms, a living room
and a kitchen. We go out to a nearby supermarket that is opposite a
fish barbecue restaurant, but when we arrive there is only a group playing dominoes and a guy tells us that it is closed and we should come back
tomorrow. We do the shopping to cook today's food and for breakfast and we return to the house, which we will not leave until we have
eaten and rested a bit.
We leave to the beach next to the house, where we are
completely alone and where we can already merge to this paradise. As soon as I get into the water with the snorkeling equipment I see two schools of
tropical fish. Many more appear when I move away and, when I dive
in a place where there were none just to get a closer look of the landscape, a ray comes out from the sand where it was perfectly camouflaged.
We return to the house and leave shortly after to explore this town, Alice Town. We follow the only road between the colorful houses.
When we decide to turn around because the sun is setting, we look for the first access to the West beach to enjoy the sunset. Then we go home and we will not leave again until tomorrow.
