11 (May 20, 2026) Tianmen
Before
This is the day we close the loop by returning to Beijing in the
afternoon.Therefore, we have the morning to visit Tianmen Mountain.
We will start this visit with the longest cable car in the world, which
takes 40 minutes to carry its passengers from its station in
Zhangjiajie town to the summit of the mountain.
From
there, we can access the famous plaza with the Stairway to Heaven,
which is what they call the staircase leading to the natural hole
carved into the mountain wall, via two escalators. One leads directly
to the mountain's cave opening (Heaven's Gate), and the other goes down
from there to the plaza.
Depending on how tired we are,
we could choose to return via the same route in reverse or by the bus
that drives down the mountain along a dizzying route of 99 bends or, at
least, that's what they call it.
After lunch, we will
head to Zhangjiajie airport for the flight that departs at 5:15 PM
and is scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 7:40 PM.
Once in the capital, we will rest at our hotel right next to the places we want to visit the following day.
