Day
14 (September 7, 2025) Miraflores
Before

Our flight back to Lima is at 11:15 AM, so we'll need to have an early
breakfast to leave Ollantaytambo directly for the Cusco airport with
enough time to check our luggage.
The
flight is scheduled to arrive in Lima at 12:40 PM, and our hotel is
next to the Huaca Pucllana monument to ensure we can visit it.
The rest of the day we could visit other places in Miraflores, such as
the coastal promenades and parks.
The spots marked on the map are:
0- Lima 18 Boutique
1- Pinkuylluna Archaeological Site
2- Parque Chino (Chinese Park)
3- Parque del Amor (Love Park)

After
We agreed yesterday to leave
at 7:30 AM to arrive in time to check in for our 11:15 AM flight to
Lima, so at 7:00 AM we are having breakfast with everything ready to go.
When
I finish, I take a look at the garden, and the owner tells me there is
a hummingbird. I don't see it, so I ask her for details about
where it is. It is in a bush at the far end, and as I approach it, I
see it for a moment, but it flys away very quickly and disappears. She
tells me they like that bush, and I keep watching it closely until one
appears that I can film. It is larger than the rest of the
hummingbirds, about the size of a normal bird, and it is black and
white, but it must be a species of hummingbird because it hovered in
the air while it flitted from flower to flower, which is what defines
these birds.
Shortly before 7:30 AM I order an Uber to the Cusco
airport, for which I pay 138 soles. The same as on the way here. It
doesn't take long to arrive since it comes from the square a little
further up, where all the taxis are. We take the same route of the day
before yesterday on opposite direction and pass through streets on the
outskirts of Cusco that seem very lively, likely because it's Sunday.
When it drops us off at the airport, a few minutes after
9:00 AM, we go
straight to check our luggage and from there to the gate where we find
that it's delayed by 30 minutes. But it will be much longer because the
plane isn't here and we won't be able to board until it arrives and
unloads. In the end, it takes off nearly two hours late. Maybe we're
still with yesterday's jynx from yesterday in these matters, or maybe
it's just something common in Cusco.
This meant we don't arrive
at our hotel in Miraflores until past 3 PM, and once we leave our
things in our room, we go straight to eat. We walk around the fence
that marks the boundary of the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site
towards its entrance, where I know there is a Michelin-starred
restaurant.
There is a long line, which I thought is for the
restaurant, but we later will find out it was for the archaeological
site. Anyway, that led us to Cafe Giancarlo, which takes the entire
side of the building. It's an Italian restaurant but set up like a
classic American diner.
With drinks, the whole meal came to
about 150 soles. Since we were starving, we ordered spaghetti alla
puttanesca for me and fettuccine fruiti di mare for Eva, with a ham and
mushroom pizza in between to share. We'd noticed the pizzas were small,
so we end up eating everything.
As we are leaving, we see that
the line was for Huaca Pucllana, so we'll have to postpone that visit
for tomorrow since it closes at 5 PM and we only have 15 minutes left.
The
day has been exhausting, dedicated almost entirely in transports, so
we're taking advantage of the early evening to get some rest before our
last day, which is tomorrow.
